Is this the new alternative to Messina?
I know you are supposed to have an apple a day to keep the doctor away, but personally, I’m not really a fan of fruit. However, when you combine apples with caramel, chocolate and a wide selection of sweets and candied toppings – you have a winner! Ding, Ding, Ding! So the question is now, if I have one of these a day, will it still keep the doctor away?
I first noticed this store when I was casually walking up Cleveland Street in Surry Hills and was mesmerised by the large front window display showcasing an array of topping covered apples. I had to buy one then and there. The selection available is huge and constantly changing, however includes options like Apple Pie, Strawberry Pop, Cherry Ripe, Milky Way, Oreo Chocolate, Time Tam, and Fraggle Rock, Diva, Moon Rock, Cheeze Cake and Picnic.
In addition to and not limiting themselves just to apples, topping covered bananas are also available!
This type of dessert is straight from North American and is commonly referred to as a candied apple. Here, Love Dem Apples uses the freshest, most crisp, tart granny smith apples available. They first dip each into caramel, followed by a variety of toppings.
Just so you know, you are able to buy one of these apples and easily walk around the street eating them. Once purchased you can get your apple cut up for you into bit sized wedges and put into a cup for your eating pleasure. And if the toppings already on them are not enough, additional dipping sauces are available.
